Christian DellBorn in 1893, passed away in 1974 (Germany)
Christian Dell began his formative years as a silversmith apprentice in various institutions and grew to be an influential figure in the development of the functional and minimalist style associated with the Bauhaus movement. He led the metalworking department at the design school, imparting principles of practical and minimalistic design to emerging designers. While he is best recognized for his Kaiser Idell collection, his work also included lamps, jewelry, and metal sculptures that harmoniously blended functionality and artistic expression. In the latter part of his career, he explored advancements in early plastic technologies.
The iconic KAISER idell lamp is a testament to Christian Dell's gift for merging simplistic geometric forms such as spheres, circles, and cylinders with attractive design features emblematic of modernity.
